Car alarm? Does anyone know where I can get a FREE video or pictural guide of how to install a car alarm? The alarm system I got is ASTRA Kickback AS2000 Auto Security Alarm System.

How much difference does a car alarm/ spoiler sport model make on insurance policies? We have been looking at cars and have finally decided on a particular model, but now we have to decide on options packages. One package is considered the "sport model" and has a spoiler on the end of it (the funny looking fin on the back), but it also has a car alarm system. The other package doesn't have any of the above, but everything else on the car is standard. I have heard that having a car alarm can reduce your premiums, while a spoiler or sports model may increase them. Is this true? If it is would or could the car alarm cancel out the spoiler/sport model increase? I have already tried getting several free quotes and none have allowed me to specify my policy this specifically.

My car remote control alarm is malfuntioning even after battery replacement, What do you think is the problem? My car was equipped with a remote control alarm (Venom). After a year of installation the remote controller became erratic, sometimes functioning sometimes not, sometimes I went around the car to get the right position before it works, until it malfunctioned totally. I try to replace the battery but to no avail. Thinking the remote controller already broke down, I decided to use the spare, and for more than a year I have no problem using it. However, since last week, I encounter similar problem with the first. Was it a problem with the remote controller or the car alarm unit itself? or the transmitter? Please help...thanks.

How can I move my car without the remote for the alarm? So I got drunk last night and lost the keys to my car - not a huge problem in itself as I have a spare. The problem is that I don't have a second remote to turn off the car alarm. It's an after market alarm that I didn't put on (bought the car used) and all I know is it's made by autostart, it's just one-way and I think it's pretty much just a shock sensor. Can I cut the cable to the battery to kill the alarm and then drive the car home? Or how can I solve this problem - I need to move my car by monday or I'm gonna start getting parking tickets. Please help I don't know how I'm gonna work this because I can't drive home with the alarm going the whole way.

Is putting a car alarm on a car AFTER market going to mess up electronics forever? I just bought a new car...and because I assumed that having a panic button meant there was an alarm on there. Whatever the case, I want an alarm on the car. A friend of the family who has been a mechanic for 30 years said it's too late because somebody has to go in there and cut wires...and there's a good chance that he will mess up your car's electronics forever. Is this true? Also, is it common for people to put in alarm systems after they buy the car?

How do you reset a Nissan Altima car alarm? I have a 1999 Altima I just bought and I need to reset the alram because the original owners said the alram kept going off and I think I need it back on to use the remote to unlock the doors. Why is my jettas car alarm going off for no reason? Recently my '99 jetta gl's car alarm has been going off for no reason. When i get into the car and try to start it the engone does not roll over or anything. Then the locks will close on me and the factory alarm will activate with me in the car. If i try to unlock the door to get out the alarm will activate and the only way to shut it off is to lock the door with the key from the outside. My car alarm is keeping me from being able to start my car!? I had some cables running from the battery to the rear of the car where a sound system had been hooked up. Recently the sound system was sold but the live wires were still sticking out in the trunk. We had the wires pulled out, and disconnected from the battery- after doing so the car wouldn't start? Any ideas? We disconnected the battery and it restarted an alarm system we'd had years ago on the car- (we do not have a remote anymore). Is there a way to disconnect the alarm ourselves?

How do I turn off the alarm on my car? My battery on my '99 Ford Expedition died so I hooked a battery charger up to it. It got below freezing last night and I think my battery may now be frozen because it didn't aquire a charge at all. Well, now my problem is that I can't get my car alarm to stop going off. I had to completely unhook the battery to stop it. I bought the car used from a dealership so I don't have access to the door code. How do I get my alarm to stop going off when I hook my battery up? How hard is it to replace a factory honda car alarm with an aftermarket one? So I have a '93 accord with a factory alarm. The key fob finally broke, and from what I hear, "universal" key fobs don't work with factory alarms so I have to get one from the factory for $100. Well for that price I could just get a fancier aftermarket one off ebay with a pager, I'm just wondering an idea how difficult and roughly how much time it would take to install to decide which route I'm going to go. How can I get my car alarm(sigma) to work? I have a sigma alarm fitted in a car (Laguan) I have just bought but I find it difficult and at times impossible to lock and unluck with the remote control. I have to pass the remote between the windscreen and the bonet to lock and unlock and that is even done on chance. The remote is a sigma remote and on the back of it is written 'Type AC110'.
