Car tires?? i bought a front wheel drive car last year and didn't check the tires when i bought it. Well now that there is snow on the roads i found out it has summer tires on it. Not fun. Can i go buy just 2 all season tires right now and put them in the front, or do i have to buy 4 tires and change them all?????
Can the material used for aircraft tires be used for regular car tires? Aircraft tires can carry heavy loads at tremendous speeds, unlike the regular car tires....so is possible for the material used for aircraft tires be molded into a size of a regular car tire and be used effectively for brakes and jumping cars over high heights?
How to determine what pressure to inflate car tires to? My Ford garage always deflates my tires everytime I take the car in. They say the tires need inflated to the pressure listed on the sticker on the inside of the door. But I say since the tires on my car are not the tires it came with that I should use the pressure rating listed on the tires. Is there a general rule on finding appropriate pressure? I generally take the max cold PSI and inflate to 90-95% of this number. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
How often do you need to change your car tires? I have been using Dunlop Ultra-high performance tires on my car for about 40 thousand miles, but recently i feel like the tread on the tires isn't as strong as it used to be. How often you guys change your car tires?
Is it safe to place 2 new car tires at the back of the car? I just changed 2 tires for my car. I didn't change all 4 because the old ones were fairly new. They said that it was safe to place the new tires at the back of the car (it's a 2 wheel drive) and placed the old tires to the front. The new tires are different brands than the original ones. Is that safe?
How do I know how much air to put in car tires? I'm rather new at cars and my car tires are sagging. I don't quite know how much air I should put in them with a standard gas station air pump.
How come all car tires are black? Oh sure, I know there are a few white wall tires and maybe there was a colored car tire or 2 made sometime, somewhere, that's not the point. The point is, why don't tire companies wise up and make colored tires? There would be a huge, instant market for them. What punk kid wouldn't want red tires to match his shiny red car? Even cheesy old geezers like myself would like them. I know they can be made because colored bicycle tires are quite common. Bicycle tires are high pressure, high performance tires, and they come in almost every color. Maybe colored tires would cost a bit more, who cares, why aren't they available?
How do I put air in my car tires without damaging it? i mean seriously i never put air in my old car since i got it, and i had it for a year. never checked the pressure and stuff. so do i go to the gas station and fill it up? So i think i unscrew that little thingy, some how fit the air giving machine into the hole. and maybe press a button or something. i've never seen the air giving machine before. but the question is. how do i know when i stop? how do i know when it's full. how do i know if i'm not going over... when i fill up helium ballons i just wait till it stops by itself, when it's all full to the max. can i do that with tires? teach me please. daddy taught me to hunt, make love, but he wasn't around to teach me about cars.
How long does it take for car tires to "flatten" and car batteries to go dead? I left my car sitting in the garage, and didn't have the chance to pop off the tires and let out the air, nor did I have the chance to disconnect the battery. I will be gone for about 4 or 5 months, and I am pretty sure the battery would die and the tires may flatten in that time. My question is, if I can convince my mother to go over and take the car out for a spin, how often does she need to do this to prevent the car's sitting there from destroying the tires & killing the battery? How long does she have to drive it to recharge the battery and "reset" the tires, so to speak, until she has takes it out again? Thanks!!!
Does oversizing passenger car tires pose a safety risk? My passenger car comes stock w/ 205-65-16. Would adding wider tires, say 215-65-16 pose any sort of safety hazard or possible damage to the automobile? The availability and price diff between the 205 and 215 is measureable. Thank you.
What tool is good for cutting up old car tires (not tubes)? I have several old car and pickup truck tires which must be removed from my property. Which cutting tool, is good for this purpose, in your experience?
How do you correctly inflate car tires? The recommended psi for my car tires is 30. But i realize that its hard to achieve it because i initially take the pressure with a guage, then add some air, then let out some air, then take the pressure again. Is there anyway to inflate to the correct pressure without all the hassle? And will a higher psi lead to better fuel economy?
Can I air up my car tires with my bike pump? They both have the same type of valve, and my car tires have less than half the pressure of my bike tires. True, it is more volume, but that just means more pumps, right? And if it is possible, why doesn't everyone have a bike pump in his or her car? My bike tires should be around 70 psi and that's actually on the low end for bike tires. Racing tires are probably double that. My car tires are what? 32? 35? Also, my tires are fine, all 6 of them. I'm simply curious.
Is it safe to put on your own car tires, or do you need to go to a shop? I need to get a new tire on my car because I've been driving on a donut and my mom keeps suggesting I just get a used tire since I don't have much money for a new tire right now. But when I priced used tires and the charge to have them put it on, I may as well buy a new tire! The only way for me to save is if my husband puts the tire on for me. Of course he doesn't have one of those pressurized machines that they have at the shop. Is it safe to drive on a tire for a long time that you just put on yourself?

How can I fix cupping problems with all four of my car tires? Must I replace them all? I have a 2006 Audi A3, outfitted with 4 Pirelli low profile tires. I found out too late that I should have rotated the tires every 4,000 miles to avoid "cupping" problems, which causes the tires to ride rough and noisy . According to a tire shop I must replace the set of tires to get rid of the noise and rough handling. Someone told me I could get the tires balanced while on the car to fix the problem but I'm not sure about that. Is there any dependable way to get the tire surface smooth again to eliminate the "cupping" problems?

I got a nail in one of my car tires and I need to replace one tire. Do I need to get the same model? I need to replace a tire on my car because it cannot be patched apparently (too close to the side wall). Tires were new in April so I do not want to buy four new ones. The tire that I buy as a replacement, is it okay to buy a similar tire as opposed to an exact match, because the tires that are on there were pretty expensive when I looked for them on the web and I would rather not spend in that range right now. If it is possible to just buy a similar tire, which specs would I definitely want to make sure were exactly the same and which ones would I have a little bit of leeway with? Thanks to anyone for their help!
