How much does it cost to replace 2 car tires? I have a 2001 Audi A4 and ran over a huge rock while taking a sharp turn and blew both of my right tires. Any idea how much this will cost to replace? Is it possible to do myself? Whats the best way to save money on this?
I got a nail in one of my car tires and I need to replace one tire. Do I need to get the same model? I need to replace a tire on my car because it cannot be patched apparently (too close to the side wall). Tires were new in April so I do not want to buy four new ones. The tire that I buy as a replacement, is it okay to buy a similar tire as opposed to an exact match, because the tires that are on there were pretty expensive when I looked for them on the web and I would rather not spend in that range right now. If it is possible to just buy a similar tire, which specs would I definitely want to make sure were exactly the same and which ones would I have a little bit of leeway with? Thanks to anyone for their help!
How can I fix cupping problems with all four of my car tires? Must I replace them all? I have a 2006 Audi A3, outfitted with 4 Pirelli low profile tires. I found out too late that I should have rotated the tires every 4,000 miles to avoid "cupping" problems, which causes the tires to ride rough and noisy . According to a tire shop I must replace the set of tires to get rid of the noise and rough handling. Someone told me I could get the tires balanced while on the car to fix the problem but I'm not sure about that. Is there any dependable way to get the tire surface smooth again to eliminate the "cupping" problems?
Should I replace weather-damaged car tires? My car's tires have fine cracking caused by UV and other weathering. They are relatively new (2002) Michelins and there is still a lot of life left on the treads. Is this dangerous? Should I replace the tires?
car tires are warranted for 55k and only 17K has been used, and 1 tire split, should I have to pay to replace? These are firestone tires, and from what I remember, they have had a lot of tires split, or come apart in some way. Another tire on the vehicle looks like it is going to split and/or come apart soon also. These tires were/are on the front of the vehicle. What is the reason for purchasing road hazard/ tire protection repair/replacement, if it's still gonna cost the consumer just about the same he/she originally paid if the tire needs replacing? Seems to me these retailers are getting over big on us consumers. I did e-mail Firestone concerning my problem, it will be interesting to see the outcome of this. Tires were purchased on 02/05, this is 08/06 and the vehicle has been driven 17,223 miles since the tires were put on the vehicle. Seems the Firestone associates don't and/or won't acknowledge the tire is/was/are faulty. The associate I dealt with originally said it was the car' fault, then he said the tire was overinflated, then he said it was because they hadn't been rotated.
Buying new tires they said they need to replace both tires because it might cause damage 2 the car? Basically they said they need to always replace both tires on axle when I only have a flat on one side because their insurance said it might cause damage to "transmission" or something like that. Is that necisarry? I am having my tires replaced at sears. Is it possible for me to just get a tire from them and put it on my car and avoid all those charges plus a whole other new tire or is it benificial to have a tech put the actual tire onto my car? The fees they are trying to charge are kind of high for labor for this area. I need to have my car realigned anyway, what do you recomend?
Is it acceptable to replace just the two front tires on a FWD car? Can you please get as technical as possible? (Braking performance, acceleration, under steer, etc.) Obviously a tire shop told me I would have to go with all four new tires, "especially on a FWD car"; but my objective is to get through a winter with the least expense and sell the car next summer. Please advise.
Question about replacing car tires? Hello this is my first time replacing my tires and I have few question. I'm thiking of purchasing my tires online and have them installed myself (I'm going to take it to the shop that I know where I can have them installed free) my car is 2003 honda civic lx 4dr and basic tire comes about 50 dollars online and 4 pieces for 230 including shipping fee. Will my car pass inspection with two different size tires? I just replaced two tires on my car. The originals were 175/70R14, but the new ones (that are on the front) are 175/65R14. I'm in the process of getting low pro's for my 2005 Dodge Neon, but I don't have the money to get the back tires yet. I'm getting my car inspected soon, and was wondering if a garage would actually pass it? BTW, had it inspected a couple of months ago, and the garage told me that it was fine except I needed to replace two tires.
tire dealer put wrong size on my car Do they have to replace.? I contacted them to get new tires for my car. They ordered them in. I went and had them put on. My car started to make an awful noise. I almost wrecked driving with my 3 children on the interstate in the rain. I finally had my dad take a look at it only to have him show and tell me that the tires are too big for my car and they put the wrong ones on.I couldn't even fit my pinky finger in between the tire and the strut. It says on the inside door the size they need to be, which were the size tires they took off also. Is there anything that says that they have to replace the tires with the ones that I asked for and the ones that belong on my car... since they messed up?
Does anyone know if the wheel bearings are bad in you car, can this damage your tires over time? I took my car to the dealer within two months of purchasing it (after I had taken it another repair shop--being told that the bearings needed to be replaced). The dealer told me that it was most likely my bearings but that for the time being they were only going to rotate my tires. Now the dealership is telling me that my tires are worn and that I need to replace all four tires. My car had 20K miles on it when I bought it with this tire issue. Thanks for any advice!!!
Two rear tires replaced on a front wheel drive car, now pulls? Hi - I recently had two rear tires replaced on my front wheel drive 4 door car. Front two were not replaced as they were not worn to the point of needing replacing. Had the tires replaced at a Mr. Tire, they match the front in size. The car now pulls pretty severly to the left. And also, fishtailed on a hard brake this morning. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? - could they have forgotten to balance the tires?
Buying used car tires--what do you think? To replace the tires that came on my car with the same kind would be $135 per tire, so I want to buy some used ones just to last a while (my tires are almost bare; very little tread left) that are about $20 each... What do you think of this idea? The new but cheap from JustTires was $125 a piece AND they sold me the wrong size last time.
Advice on buying car tires to reduce road noise? We have a 1998 Subaru Forester with some cheap tires that we figure are causing a lot of road noise. We're hoping replacing these tires will help reduce the noise, but we don't know what type of tires we should get. Would appreciate any general advice on which type of tires are best at reducing road noise.
What is the right tire pressure for replacement tires on my car? I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass. We have replaced some of the tires, while others are original. The door panel says that the tire pressure should be 26/29 for front/back, but the tires look really deflated at that rate. Does the pressure recommendation increase as cars & tires age? All of the tires have a maximum pressure of about 35-40.
New Car Tires? I just got my two front tires replaced on my car. My old tires were 90V's and they have been replaced with 89V's. Would it be a big deal if my rear tires were 90V's. I was always under the impression the letter was the most important aspect of a tire and should match.
How much should one pay for nitrogen in their tires? We have a $49.99 special in our neighborhood - 4 tires - and good for the life of your owning the car... and they replace your tire caps with little green caps for mechanics to see that it now contains nitrogen instead of oxygen. How much does the market normally get for filling a car tire with nitrogen?
How much does it cost to replace the thing on my car that holds the tire on? I recently had a flat tire when I went to change it one of the four bolts or screws broke off. The actual metal which the bolt connects to broke. How much does it cost to replace that on a compact car such as a nissan sentra. And might sound crazy but is it possible to get by with out one in the mean time? I mean there are 3 other tight bolts holding the tire on?
Do I fill my car tires to the pressure listed on the car or the tire? I've always heard that you are supposed to fill up the tires to the psi listed on the inside of the car by the driver's seat (or next to the gas cap in some cars). However, someone told me that you're supposed to fill them up to the psi listed on the tire itself. I bought a used car and replaced the tires. The psi listed on the car is 38psi for each tire. However, it is listed as 53psi on the tire. What am I supposed to fill it up to since this is a huge difference? It's a 2002 Volvo sedan for clarification.
How much or am I liable to pay to replace a flat tire in a rental car.? I got the car through enterprise, I didn't purchase any additional insurance from enterprise. I have nationwide, with a 0 deductable. The tire is unfixable. Help! And if nationwide can cover this, should I report the claim, or will that make my insurance raise? oh yeah, I got the flat by hitting a curb.
Why should you replace your tires when the threading is low? NASCAR races are always cancelled when it is raining due to safety concerns for their drivers. one of the main reasons for this is because these racing cars have no threads on their tires. why do they need to cancel a race bacause of this?
buying new tires for my car? I need to get new tires on my car. (1997 Ford Mustang) I'm going to replace all 4 tires. What type of specifics should I look for and which ones are frivolous? I want all-weather tires I think (I live in Kansas, so we get a wide variety of weather), or is this incorrect? I've never bought tires before, so I'm kind of lost in the whole ordeal and don't want to get ripped off. Thanks! It's just a regular Mustang, V6, manual transmission.
Is it bad to have 2 different sets of tires on your car? My car has ultra performance summer tires and my rear tires aren't as bald as the front. Would it be bad to replace them with a different pair of tires or is it recommended that all of the 4 tires be the same rating and brand?
Two different types of tires on one car? So I need to replace the front two tires on my car (something like the alignment caused them to get worn down pretty bad). The rear tires have PLENTY of tread life on them, but for one reason or another I may not be able to get the same type of tire. Assuming the alignment gets fixed, and I of course will buy the same size tires. If the front two tires are a different brand/type tire than the back, will this cause issues (car is front wheel drive 01 Mazda 626) given the tires in the front and rear have different traction patterns? and/or cause issues when it comes down to having the tires rotated? I would replace all four, but it may not be economically feasible for me at this moment. ~G
I just replaced one of my tires, but now the car seems to veer to the left when I drive. Help!? I just had a brand new tire installed on the rear right wheel of my car, but now when I drive, the car veers to the left. The 3 other tires have about a year old with 13,000 miles on them and have about a couple of millimeters less tread depth on them compared to the new tire. I was wondering if maybe the new tire will eventually even out with the other tires or if this could cause a serious problem with the car. The veering isn't too bad. I don't struggle with the car or anything like that, but when I let the steering wheel go while going down a straight freeway at about 65 mph, it will obviously start veering to the left. Thank you for your help! Also, the car never did this before. It just started doing this right after I got the new tire installed and then had all the tires rotated and balanced. I'm assuming it's the new tire that is at fault here... The Pep Boys guy said there was nothing wrong with my tires when he rotated them, only that one tire was new. That's all he said. Oh and the new tires is the same exact one as the other 3, it's just newer. Thank you all very much for your answers! If you really think it's the allignment, is it possible that Pep Boys could have messed my allignment up. I'm sure my car did now have this problem before I got the new tire.
There is a problem with one of the high performance tires on my car...help? The car has rims (I'm not sure, but I think they're 18s.) The tires are very thin. Today the tire was making a sound like it was flat as I was driving. When I looked at it, it did not look flat (but hard to tell since it's so thin.) I noticed a bulge on one side of the tire and what looks like a gash on the other. Can you help me out and tell me what the problem is please? Does this sounds like it needs to be fixed, and if so, will I need someone else to replace the tire because of the rims? My husband is deployed and I have no idea what is going on or how I would even fix the problem. Also, can you tell me how this might have happened?
Replace battery and tires due to age? I recently decided to purchase a impressively well kept Toyota Avalon of 2000 vintage. The car is in great shape, but there is a little possible problem with the car. The owner only managed to put 29K miles on it and as such only did minimal maintenance on the car, oil changes and tire rotation. Knowing a little about cars, I know that car batteries and tires, even if not heavily used are recommended to be replaced at around the 5 or 6 year mark. This car has all original parts, battery and tires included. I'm wondering if this recommendation is a rule of thumb, or should I follow it strictly and go ahead and replace these parts even if they don't appear to be in bad condition. Mike
Replacing 2 tires on a front wheel drive car? I just purchased 2 tires because one of my rear tires was flat and not repairable. My car is front wheel drive and when I asked the tire center about putting the new tires on the front, he abruptly said "It's best to keep them on the back" with no explanation. I've always thought the best tires should be on the front in a front-wheel drive vehicle. Am I wrong?
