tire dealer put wrong size on my car Do they have to replace.?

I contacted them to get new tires for my car. They ordered them in. I went and had them put on. My car started to make an awful noise. I almost wrecked driving with my 3 children on the interstate in the rain. I finally had my dad take a look at it only to have him show and tell me that the tires are too big for my car and they put the wrong ones on.I couldn't even fit my pinky finger in between the tire and the strut. It says on the inside door the size they need to be, which were the size tires they took off also. Is there anything that says that they have to replace the tires with the ones that I asked for and the ones that belong on my car... since they messed up?

  1. Yes. They will replace them. The dealer should know better. I dont think you will have trouble, but if you do try standing in the show room on a saturday afternoon and loudly complain about how they could not even get the tire size right. They will replace in a hurry.
  2. I would say yes, they have to replace your tires.
  3. Sure they have to replace your tires! I don't know where you are from and don't know obviously your local laws about the question you made but every car in the world possesses a document of omologation and there you can find the size (or more than one, it depends on the car) of the tyres to fit right to the car.
  4. yes, they should know what they were doing. i know and i haven't work for discount tire co. for about 6yrs, but i've been working on cars my whole life
  5. Call your insurance company and call a lawyer, don't drive the car and let them sort it out you have a law suit and the people that put them on has no regard for safety, and should have test driven the vehicle and did not, ,also call Consumer Affairs in Sacramento cal, and better Business Buro and don't let them get a way with this they put you and your family in danger and obviously they have no quality control totally Unacceptable
  6. take the car back and talk to manager.. nobody else... he will be shocked and embarrassed and have it resolved... if you talk to the idiot who put them on he would just avoid fixing it due to getting in trouble with his boss finding out, and boss would be mad at him as now they have used tires to get rid of. so talk to the boss and he will fix the problem... if they don't have the tires in stock, explain that you can't drive it like this and he may be able to give you a loaner until the problem is fixed... after all the legal stuff involved if you wrecked would hurt them bad.
