- You'll need a jack, spare tire, and lug wrench. Break lug nuts free Jack up the car (jack locations marked in owners manual) Remove lug nuts with lug wrench in a star pattern Remove wheel Replace wheel with spare Tighten lug nuts in star pattern Lower car Check nuts for tightness Remember, never use fix-a-flat on high performance Z-rated tires. Always make sure jacking location is approved. Never put smaller diameter tire on axle which has a limited slip differential (LSD). Tighten lug nuts firmly, and check for tightness after car is lowered.
