How do I know when it's time to replace my car's tires?

- When they pop.
- When the rims are making sparks on the road
- Take a penny and set it upside down in one of the tire's treads (so Lincoln is upside down). If the tread does not cover his entire head it is time to get new tires. Also, if you notice a lot of wear on the sides of the tires or any bulging it might be time. I would ask a professional.
- My company has a fleet of cars. We check the tires by putting a penny into the tread. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, the tire tread is too worn and you need to get new tires.
- You can tell when the tread is too worn by using a penny. Take the penny, turn it so lincoln's head is facing down, then put it in your tread. If you can see his any of his head then your tread level is illegal and unsafe. Also replace them if 1. There are any bulges in the side of your tire 2. Excessive weather checking (cracks) in the side of your tire. 3. If white threads are showing. Hope this helps.
- Most tires have a wear indicator in the tire tread. This is commonly 4/32 of an inch.
