Car Parts Faqs

Is it worth replacing the tires on my car before selling it?

Or fixing two major scratches?

Public Comments

  1. I would fix the scratches, if you fix the tires you will find that it will not raise the value of what the car is worth, and you in turn would loose money
  2. if trading in at dealer then forget tires but fix scratches. if selling privately it might up the price with new tires and fix the scratches
  3. I would. Get some good used tires (about $120 for four). This will increase the cars value and make it more attractive to potential buyers. Personally, I always check the condition of tires before buying a car. I think most people do. So, spending $120 should result in a higher selling price. I would not worry about the scratches unless your selling the car for more than $5,000. Good luck!
  4. No. Tire wear and scratches are a fact of life. If the buyer happens to mention it, explain that you have allowed for this in your asking price. You certainly won't see any outlay on tires and body repair reflected in the eventual sale price.
  5. not really it would just be a waste of ur own money the new owner can buy new tires
  6. it depends on what you are trying to sell and how many miles are on it and what year is it if you are trying to sell a 2006 with 40k than thats what it should look like if you are selling a 1998 with 190k that is what it should look like remember you cant polish a terd good luck
