Car Parts Faqs

Do you have to replace all 4 tires at a time on a RWD vehicle?

I know with AWD cars you must replace all of the tires at the same time. Is this necessary with RWD vehicles or can you replace them one at a time?

  1. no its not but you should but the newer tires on the back for, traction and to avoid oversteer
  2. Unless you have already done this, you could just rotate the tires and send the back to the front, front to the back. If they are still in pretty good shape, then this is alright to do. But if your treads are almost completely worn down, then it would be best to change those back ones. As long as they are completely different from what you have on the front, they should be alright.
  3. You do not have to replace four at one time on awd cars. You should replace them at least in pairs. On all cars
  4. No you don't have to do all four at the same time, replace them in pairs though. Install the new tires on the back, for better handling and safety reasons, see the article below
